At what stage and how much does Sarmal Ventures invest?
We invest from pre-seed to Series A. Initial checks range from USD 250K to 6M. Half of our reserves are set aside for pro-rata in portfolio companies' follow-on rounds.
How does the process work from application to decision?
After you send the application form and pitch deck we respond within 7 business days. If suitable, a 45-minute intro meeting follows, then product, customer and financial review and the investment committee. The average timeline is 21 days.
Do you only invest in startups in Türkiye?
Our priority is startups based in Türkiye or with founders in Türkiye. We also invest in startups targeting Central Asia, the Caucasus and MENA markets with a significant part of the team in Türkiye.
Which sectors do you not invest in?
We do not invest in weapons, gambling, tobacco or fossil fuel extraction. Crypto asset speculation and businesses based only on a consulting or services model that does not scale with technology are also outside our focus.
Is the confidentiality of my pitch deck protected when I apply?
Yes. Documents are reviewed only by the investment team and committee members and are not shared with third parties. Our team is bound by confidentiality, and if you request an additional NDA we can sign one.
Do you give feedback on declined applications?
Yes. We give reasoned feedback of at least a paragraph to every application. Our readiness test and guides on the blog can also help you prepare.
What standard terms are in your term sheet?
A 1x non-participating liquidation preference, broad-based weighted average anti-dilution protection and four-year founder vesting with a one-year cliff. You can download a sample term sheet template from the Reports and Documents section.
Who makes up Sarmal's investor base?
Our fund investors include pension funds, development institutions, family offices and successful entrepreneurs. Information on fund investors is in the Fund III Information Memorandum and is available to qualified investors.
